Our little angel, Andrew James, was born November 23, 2005, more than 14 weeks premature. He weighed a mere 1 pound, 10 ounces and was tiny enough to be held in the palm of your hand.
At 3 weeks old, Andrew was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis, an inherited chronic illness that affects the lungs and digestive system.
At that point we had Andrew transferred to the care of the fantastic doctors and staff in the NICU at Children's Memorial Hospital. Andrew surprised his parents, his doctors, and nurses on almost a daily basis. He loved to be held, something that many preemies can't tolerate too
much of. He also loved his mommy and daddy's voices. His nurses had a recording that they would play to calm him on his most anxious of days.
